HOW TO ACHIEVE COOPERATION BETWEEN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND THE CIVIL SECTOR THROUGH AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM? – Life Artina

HOW TO ACHIEVE COOPERATION BETWEEN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND THE CIVIL SECTOR THROUGH AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM?

Author: Margita Radman

On November 17, 2022, a workshop under name “Ways of cooperation between different sectors and connecting with the community to encourage the cooperation of representatives of the civil sector, public institutions for the management of protected areas and educational institutions based on the example of the educational activities of LIFE Artina – Seabird Conservation Network in the Adriatic” was held.

The workshop was organized in a hybrid edition for the first part of the workshop (online and live), while the second part could only be followed live. A total of 39 participants took part in the workshop, of which 29 participants were live and 10 participants were online.

In the introductory part, Margita Radman, a representative of Sunce, presented her work to the participants as well as the idea of organizing a workshop on this topic. Maja Golem, a professional associate educator at the Sunce association, presented the Seabird Educational Program designed and then adapted for different ages: kindergarten children, students from primary school classes and subject classes.

Lina Vuletić, project associate and volunteer coordinator in the Sunce Association, presented the results of the Ivo Pilar Institute’s research obtained as part of our project.

Thanks to the representatives of the BIOM association, PP Lastovsko otočje and Primary School Blato, Korčula, we also got a first insight into the benefits and challenges of cooperation with different sectors. The representatives of PP Telaščica and PP Vrana jezero gave an overview of the different ways of cooperation of public institutions for the management of protected areas, and representatives of educational institutions, specifically the Vocational Technical School and the Faculty of Chemical Technology from Split, the experiences of the sector, as well as the possibilities and wishes for cooperation in of the future.

We learned how civil society organizations cooperate with other sectors from representatives of Permakultura Dalmacija and Info zone. Through joint work, we identified opportunities for further cooperation. We used the World Café participatory activity. You can find a detailed description of the activity and an overview of some other participatory ways of working on the link.

The on-site evaluation showed that all participants were very satisfied with the content of the workshop, the organization of the workshop, professional development, information on opportunities for cooperation, motivation for the cooperation with other sectors and lastly, no less importantly, with the atmosphere at the workshop.

In addition to the lecturers, we would also like to thank the representatives of the following institutions for their participation:

  • Kindergarten Radost – Split, Kindergarten Cvrčak – Virovitica
  • Žnjan-Pazdigrad Elementary School – Split, Manuš Elementary School – Split, Mertojak Elementary School – Split, Antun Mihanović Petropoljsko Elementary School – Drniš, Kamen-Šine Elementary School, Split
  • Ivan Lucić Secondary School – Trogir, Metković Secondary School, Natural History School Split, School of Design, Graphics and Sustainable Construction – Split
  • Student Dorm Kvarner
  • Faculty of Philosophy in Split.

We hope that this workshop is only the first step for some new collaborations, as well as for the deepening of existing ones!
